Grandparent Review of Razor Kick Scooters

If you are looking for a lasting Christmas gift that is suitable for a variety of ages consider a Razor Kick Scooter. In our family we have had five different razor scooters and they have been excellent choices.

We started out with two – one pink and on blue Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooters. These were for our then 3 year old Granddaughter and Grandson. They loved them right from the start. Because of the wider deck they were able to keep their balance better and hop on and off easily. Both children had many hours of enjoyment from them without any incidents. They have now been passed on to our three-year-old twin Granddaughters. The girls also delight on them. Although they have both tried their big sister’s Razor A3, they quickly return to the Razor Kiddie Kick Scooters.

Razor Jr. Folding Kiddie Kick Scooter At the same time that these Razor Kiddie Kick Scooters were purchased a Razor A Kick Scooter was acquire for our then five-year-old grandson. This was an immediate hit. Even though it is recommended up to 143 pounds it was difficult to keep the adults off it.

Razor A3 Kick ScootersOur older Grandchildren have all moved onto the Razor A3 Scooters. This scooter has larger 125mm urethane wheels with a spring less absorbing system. Apparently it has an all-new wheelie bar that guarantees an extra dollop of fun. As a Grandparent I am not sure that I know what this means. I do know these scooters travel much faster than their beginning scooters. It would appear that these scooters will probably last them for many years to come. Especially if they can keep their parents from riding them.

For Christmas 2009 the Razor Kick Scooters were amongst the hottest selling toys for youngsters. Based on our experience whether they are the top of the latest greatest Christmas selling list or not, they are a gift that will always be appreciated and never go out of style.

Quality of Razor Kick Scooters

Razor A3 Kick ScootersRazor is a U.S. based company located in Cerritos, California. They have won numerous awards including the Toy Industry Association’s “Toy of the Year” and “Toy of the Year” honors from Time Magazine, Parents, Parenting, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Nick Jr., and U.S. News & World Report.

The scooters are made from aircraft grade aluminum with urethane wheels that have ABEC high-speed bearings. They have a patented rear fender brake. They fold for easy transportation – under the seat of a car, in a backpack, or under an arm.

Kid Friendly Razor Kick Scooters

Razor A3 Kick Scooters The proof of any toy or piece of equipment is whether it is used or not by its owner. In the past five years that we have had these Razor A3 Scooters they are constantly in operation. The boys, who live about 40 minutes from us, very often bring their scooters with them. The girls come over and all five of them play with their scooters. The boys are now building small ramps and trying to teach the girls about jumping off of them. Thank goodness the ramps are not very high.

Razor A3 Kick ScootersNone of our children are able to use their scooters as transportation to school. The boys will often use theirs to go three or four blocks within their neighborhood. They live in an older area where the sidewalks are not very smooth, yet they have no trouble with the ride on the scooter.

What Others Think of the Razor Kick Scooters

Our own experience with the Razor Kick Scooters has been very positive and we are not the only ones who think highly of these scooters. For the original Razor A Kick Scooter and the Razor A2 Kick Scooter 585 reviewers have given them 5 stars. The Razor A3 has 105 reviewers giving it 5 stars. Currently these scooters have a 4.6 to 4.7 rating on Amazon.com. Here are the comments of some of the reviewers:

“Twins love their new birthday scooters. They’ve grown up from three wheel scooter to big girl two wheel scooters, one green, one blue.”
“My son really enjoyed his red razor A3 kick scooter. His rides it all the time. My daughter says she wants one too in pink. We’ll see.”
“I was debating whether to get my 5 year old son the A2 or A3 and did a fair amount of research. I am so glad I spent the extra 10 bucks or so to get the A3. The wheels are better, smoother, faster ride, and the deck is noticeably bigger than A2 and A1. The scooter is great, my son loves to ride it (and so do I)!!!”
“Scooters used to be the craze about 10 years ago, but they are still solid products! Razor was one of the first to come on the scooter scene, and their products are quality for sure! Even though I don’t use my scooter anymore because it would be embarrassing, it’s still in top shape.”
“The Razor Scooter is a wonderful product. Our family used to own 3 Razor Scooters. We loved them, and so did the kids in our neighborhood. We would ride all day long if we could. We would race down our streets joyfully. We all loved them so much.“

Where to Purchase the Razor Kick Scooters

Having recently braved our local shopping mall I cannot begin to state loud enough how much I like shopping on Amazon.com. There is no doubt for the Razor Kick Scooters Amazon has the largest selection in models and colors. Plus Amazon has by far the best prices. Avoiding the problem of first finding a parking space, then being jostled by the many other Christmas shoppers, and finally running from store to store to try to find items; shopping in the quiet of my own home and knowing the Razor Kick Scooters will be delivered right to my door makes Amazon.com my first choice.
