APPETIZER MEATBALLS
Recipe for APPETIZER MEATBALLS
This is a subtle recipe for appetizer meatballs and sauce that can be made ahead and frozen. I have a number of recipes for appetizer meatballs but I like the taste of the ham and pork together. I also like the fact that these meatballs are not super sweet.
To serve, place meatballs in a chafing dish or a fondue pot.
Ingredients for MEATBALLS
- 1 lb. ground Cooked Ham
- 1 lb. ground Pork
- 2 cups Breadcrumbs
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 Eggs beaten
- 1 tsp. Salt
SAUCE for Appetizer Meatballs
- 1 ½ cups Brown Sugar
- ¾ cup Vinegar
- ¾ cup Water
- 1 Tbsp. Dry Mustard
METHOD for Appetizer Meatballs:
Mix cooked ham and ground pork together and add remaining ingredients. Make meatballs about one inch in diameter. Bake in 350 degrees.
Pour sauce over meatballs and cook uncovered about 50 minutes. This recipe serves eight generously and is easy to double.
If you plan to make ahead and freeze it is a good idea to refrigerate them first. Take the meatballs from the refrigerator and remove all traces of fat from them. Bag and freeze. Reheat after removing them from the freezer. If your are planning a party it is wonderful to have these made ahead.
